Perceptions of God

Some of the discussions we've had in class today and last Thursday concerning the way humans perceive aspects of an incomprehensible god makes me wonder if the familiar metaphor of the three blind men in a room with an elephant might be insufficient.

I suggest we replace it, at least while considering the Hindu concept of god/s, with three blind deaf mutes in a room with an entire rainforest.

  1. After this past week of classes, I would be inclined to agree. Our brief and incomplete discussion on the metaphysics of Hinduism seem to require a lifetime of study to even begin to grasp. The "pandora's box," of what we tried to touch in class is definitely overwhelming, but I would say has also served to inspire and enrich many great theological and also secular minds of all time, Gandhi included.
